I don't know if this will answer your question entirely but here's what I know: I worked closely with a friend who was keeping adult African Rock pythons in East Texas 20 or so years ago. (also other large pythons). He fed his big Rocks large rabbits and they did very well on that. Sometimes he would offer pigs, in rural areas back then these were cheap, the big pythons seemed to really go for larger prey.

Here's a related subject that I find interesting.. Do large snakes benefit in any way from large prey items? .... better nutrition? 'psychologically'? exercise? other?
