The blackthroat we had at the store a while ago was afraid of mice if you tried tong feeding him for about 2 weeks. It seemed he was more afraid of our hands than the food. Once he got used to us, he wasn't so afraid of eating the mice. After about a month he'd eat anything you'd give him. I've given both raw and hardboiled eggs to my tegu and its always a stitch. Usually he picks the yolk out of the hardboiled eggs but he'll eat the whole thing raw after he kicks it around for a while.
