I have talked to a few people who have had this happen in captivity. One had a pair of cummingi waters, that he had to completely block out the viewing windows and let them get used to his silhouette before uncovering the windows. This took about a year I believe. Others that can be spastic are nile monitors, tree monitors, mangrove monitors, croc monitors and many other imports. With W/C monitors it is always a gamble on how they will behave.
