I asked my roommate about the two at the store and she says they are loud in the morning and evening which is common for birds. I have over 20 birds in my house and I sleep right through their vocalization period in the morning. Another thing to think about is not all birds scream. I have a few birds that all they do is talk. No screaming, no squawking, just talking or imitating sounds from around the house, like the microwave or the cat. Sometimes when it gets too loud in the house the African Grey will yell "Hey! Knock it off!" or "Quiet." It's really funny when he's the one making the noise and he yells Knock it off at himself. Oh yeah....seed mess. A lot of cages have an "apron" around the base that will catch a lot of the stuff they throw. Another thing that will help keep the mess down is an enclosed crock. It just has a hole in the front for them to stick their heads in to eat. My roommate and my mom both have to use those for their Cockatoo's because they really like to throw their seed around.
