Many females do go off food. It is also pretty universally accepted that you should feed the female smaller than normal prey (if she will eat at all) while she is gravid. Most (not all) of my females throw their strike response out the window while they are gravid too. Leave the prey in. If it doesn't disappear, she doesn't want it.

This is why it is very important to ensure that your females have plenty of fat reserves before breeding them.
