If memory serves me correctly, the black light that is used for heating is ok. It is the "trendy" black light used for the "super cool" lighting that are bad. Mainly because the light emmitted plays havoc on a snakes eyes, and prolonged use can cause eye sight problems. I believe that is what is wrong with them at least. Maybe someone else can add to what I said.
