We went to a petstore yesterday, to check it out since it is now under new ownership and you guessed.. not much improvement, not for the animals anyway....
The new owner is basically in it for a tax write off and wants to lose as much as he can, just to get it back in taxes... (makes no sense to me at all) But we asked one of the employees about the animals, their condition and their state of health etc and found out that the owner will not let them feed the daily feed animals except for twice a week... (it would costtoo much $$$ even though he is wanting to lose as much as possible... makes no sense to me...)
All the reptiles were in poior care, improper setups etc, malnourished and several cases of pure intentional neglect. For example, an adult male iguana, with a broken leg, the owner doesnt want to get it fixed since it is for sale on consignment, ALTHOUGH he was the one that caused the injury to occur.
All the lizards, leos , beardies , savanna, were welll on the way to starvation, a vieled chameleon , adult, in glass with very little ventiation, water BOWL on the floor, no drip or mist system, housed with another species (I cant recall what it was..) of lizard.
Even the furries, cats that is, when I petted them I could feel some skin issues going on with them as well.
The only thing I was really impressed with is that now they have to keep the floors and windows clean.
We did get the worst leo there, (written off as dead, hehehe) in order to try and get it healthy again.
Enough rambling... here's some pics.
So far, it's doing good, more active now that it's getting food (baby food and fresh molted mealies) pedialyte and heat. I don't have to worry about impaction as it showed GizmO yesterday that it can and will pee on ya and has left a nice sample in it's tank for us.
Hopefully this lil one will make it for us, but with most things such as this, time will tell.
