Cuss filter caught one...I caught the rest. Will, had this rant been not so otherwise worthy of discussion, I would have just deleted the whole thread....Please watch the language here.
I have heard rumors from some people I trust and some people whom I would like to think I can trust that there have been enough documented cases of health issues from BK use that I prefer not to risk it. Proventamite, when used correctly does seem safe. I have never heard anything bad about it. Sawyers Tick Spray is not only the same ingredients, it's made by the same manufacturer and even has the same patent number on the can. Apparently, they sell it to different companies for different uses. So...I would rather pay 4 bucks a can for Sawyers than to pay 20 bucks a can just to get the blah plain white label. I haven't compared the patent number of RID Lice spray but I have compared the ingredients and they are identical. .5% permetherin and 99.5% inert ingredient. Same thing-Different label. 5% Sevin dust is another product that I have personally used many many times for many many years....have never once heard of any incident of harm to a reptile from using it. On the bag, it gives instructions for rubbing it on dogs and cats....not everyone out there thinks about snakes as pets so we will miss out hardcore if we wait for product packaging to be specificly for reptiles all the time.....On the down side...sevin dust isreally messy and requires substrate change. And after cleaning the cage, it leaves nothing to prevent reinfestation....so of everything out there...I choose Sawyer's Tick Spray and use it as directed by Proventamite. Everytime I battle mites....I save 16 bucks!
