BW, my wife worked at a vets for 5 years before she died and benadryl was the choice he always went with and it never failed. I seem to recall we had caplets instead of capsels for our dog and we cut them in half due to her size, which would of course depend on size and you've been around enough to know that. But we went through all the peanut butter, treat crap, and the stupid dog always seemed to be able to find the pill and spit it out. I found the easiest and quickest way was to open the dogs mouth (hold tongue down and they can't shut their mouths) toss the pill to the back, and close the mouth and rub their throat (softly) three or four times, --- never failed. The main thing is to find out dosage/weight ratio.
