Get some stainless steel screen and some bolts and washers from home depot or such. Take the lid (its a good idea to buy one that has a locking lid) and cut out a circle or square that can allow enough room to fully fit your heat lamp over. Make another for a light if you want. Then cover the holes with the screen on the outside, and bolt the sceen down with some short bolts and washers. The amount of screen you have on the top should be dependent on the humidity requirements of the animal, high humidity = less screen and vise versa. In addition to that a heat pad on a reostat with proper venting on the bottom can be used just as with a glass tank. I would not suggest permently attaching it as it makes it harder to wash down the tank.
