leopard geckos, definately. If your not breeding them, go for it because they are so beginner geckos. they're easy to take care of and to clean up after. Although they are not the most cheap gecko in the world ($40 average.), but they are beginner. if your going expensive id go wih the beardies. but if you want real cheap, well....geckos arent cheap- or should i say reptiles are not cheap!
