another bite...
I feel so horrible. My sister wanted to hold my 5 foot female redtail for the first time ever, so I handed her over. She was just resting on her lap and than she bite my sister on the face, for no reason that I can see. Her bottom jaw went into my sisters chin and the top teeth went through her bottom lip and under her nose. Its horrible. She ran out screaming and dripped blood all over the hall. My parents of course flipped out because it looked a lot worse than it was. Her face was covered in blood. I am still in shock and I want to cry. Mostly because now my parents had to witness it and all the blood and my sisters boyfriend, a "snake hater" was running around saying "see! thats why snakes arent supposed to be pets." It was probably the worst possible situation ever....everytime I have gotten bite I just laughed and showed my parents, but now I feel responsible and now the pets that I have always tried to get people to like and accept are going to be looked at as time bombs waiting to explode. This snake has never bitten in 5 years, and just ate 5 days ago. It was completely out of the blue. Now I am in tears...because I know better. They are wild animals and can bite...but people dont understand that. Even my sister didnt blame the snake and was laughing after the shock wore off. This is the second boa I own that bit out of nowhere after never biting before, the first was a smaller one that got me in the face too.
