Heating a 75 gallon tank?
I may have already posted on this. Sorry if I did.....I'm home sick and haven't the energy to check.....
I just forked out $250 for a new 75 gallon tank for my BCI to separate her from the male Guyanan. I looked and looked for a used one but they are hard to find now that a major manufacturer (Gateway?) has closed. I went to a small aquarium store that was going out of business yesterday because they had one for $50. It was old and very grungy. In addition, everyone in the store was smoking, and now I am home sick from the second hand smoke, which totally sucks.
Anyway.....I got so frustrated from looking, I just decided to buy a new one. It is not her permanent home, so I didn't want to build anything yet. But I have heard lots of methods of heating it. Which one is best? There is apparently a new 250 watt red infrared bulb which can be turned off at night if there is a UTH. I have never used a UTH. Also, I've heard an overhead ceramic 150 bulb with another 100 ceramic bulb overhead will work too. Can turn one off at night. This snake is not a heatmonger. She likes it a little cooler. My ambient house temp is anywhere from 70 to 80. What are all your thoughts on this?
