The problem with laws is there is NO classified specification, and therefore ALL exotic venomous & non-venomous snakes (Ball Pythons, Bloods, Boas etc) will all need permits.
As far as existing collections, it doesn't specify, but since it was not included I would imagine you'd probably have to get a permit. I can't see them doing a "grandfathering" clause for this, it'd be too hard to prove when you got your snake. Its just better for this law NOT to pass. I can't see any good from it?
This isnt JUST about HOTS. I have no issue with permit systems for hots, necessarily. Although people are going to break the law regardless.
It's about ALL non-native to the US snakes.
There are a LARGE amount of reptile shows in Texas, and many reputable breeders and sellers, and large collectors, etc. that this will impact.
I wonder if its "per snake", or just ONE permit allowing you to bring in many exotics?
