alright... SOOO..... first things first, half the exhibits were closed, most of the rest were lame. The highlight of the day was getting to spend the day with Tamara and David - they are cool people and tamara showed me lots of neat tricks with her camera - some of which i can do myself on my camera - YAYYYY!
for the start.... The San Francisco Garter Snake. One of the most endangered species of snake in the US, its been on both federal and state endangered species lists since their creation... the SF zoo is also the only zoo in the US that has these snakes. Now... if you were in this kind of situation, wouldn't you i wont know... choose to really really display them? make them a centerpiece? Nope. a normal green iguana had a better display. these guys were seen through a dirty window, into a clear acrylic-looking cage that was semi dirty. they have 6 of them, there were 2 out on "display"... so it was a HUGE rush to stand that close to them (about 3.5-4 feet), and at the same time it was a huge disappointment. This just means that im going to have to go herping, find them, and capture them with my camera.

So, without further ado...here is the reason i wanted to go to the zoo:

i NEVER thought i would EVER take pictures of tarantulas (or a black window), and think that they are pretty... but there you have it. Neat little displays!

Lions and tigers and b- oh... nope... the bears were boring. but the pussy cats were cute. i wonder if they want a ball of yarn...

Birdies!!! The peacocks were getting annoying. none of them wanted to fluff out their tails for me to take a pic, and i had heard that peacock was good eating.... i didn't try to test that, tho i was tempted.
and look... an albino peacock! too bad it was a girl. a boy would have been NEAT

All in all, a good day. Could it have been better? yeah, they could have had more displays open. Next trip we take is to take the dogs to the beach
