He loves Iams because its like dog candy. That stuff is so bad for your dog. Do you take your kids out to fast food joints everyday? If you do, then by all means feed your dog the same way.
If you try to give your kids natural healthy foods (home cooked or from a good source) then do the same for your dog...there are plenty of good healthy kibbles out there and of course the all natural raw meat/bones diet with occasional table scraps.
