The heat here can be hard on some long-haired dogs. Right now she just wants someone to pay attention to her (and play). A lot of people here don't know what a commitment they are making when they get a dog, especially one of the larger breeds.

There's an interesting story behind me getting her.. (I'll try to keep it short). My neighbor of 30+ years recently sold his home. The people who bought it were 'flip-this-house' kind of buyers.. from up north. They really only bought the place to resell it. I am not putting them down, they seem like nice people.. anyway after putting some work on the place (and buying a dog) and looking around they decided to sell.
.
They never paid much attention to that nice dog (she's a little small for her age too) and she would bark all the time and at any hour out of boredom or whatever. I never made any attempt to get to know the dog but when she was especially excited I would talk to her through the fence while I was working outside. So.. when these people were packing the last stuff to go they let the dog out to come with them and she runs wiild up and down the street with all her pent-up play and energy. They holler and chase her but she won't come and almost gets run down a couple of times in the street.
.
It's a fact that I've always gotten along with dogs.. I asked my neighbor if he wanted me to catch the dog (he's not especially athletic) and he said please do! I yelled at ChaCha to come and she ran right up to me and lay on her back on my feet (laughing). The guy was about to bust with anger! at me or the dog I don't know.. but an hour or so later he came over and asked me if I would take the dog. I said yes.
.
That's the story!
