Meg, Costa Rica has very strict laws when it comes to their wildlife. There are only two licensed exporters and every animal they produce is CBB, no wild caught animals are allowed out. The government checks their inventory lists every two weeks and will even come out to inspect quite regularly just to make sure things are going according to plan. The one guy where a friend of mine and I imported some snakes for our collection, also breeds many of the seldom seen Bothrops (B. leucurus, B. colombiensis, etc) from South America. But to my knowledge, none have even kept any of the snail eating species. Your best bet is just to go down herping and find one in the wild. That is one species on the top of our list for this year, as I will be herping in Costa Rica starting May 26th til June 7th. If you want to either PM or email me, I can point you in the right direction
