I know whgat you mean with the heating pad but I would prefer if the cats wouldn't paw at the tank. Regardless though, I am getting a 25 gal for my rock python that is in a 40(way too big for it but that is what it came in when I rescued it)and the burm will get the 40 with better heating. But I still want to know about these coils, as far as I've heard, they last a good five or six years before burning out. So it may be worth the extra money if they work good.
