As the point was made before, how many drug dealing bag homies from the hood do you think have their american staffordshire terrier, american pitbull terrier, or staffordshire bull terrier registered? Most don't even have a valid drivers license. Yet take a drive into your local hood and see how many of the "thugs" in the area have not one but 5,6,7 pits roaming in their yard.

And another thing. If anyone wants to be so ignorant as to think pits aren't the current media target then let me give you something to think about. As I have stated earlier (which you can easily find in a couple minutes of research) alot of pitbull attacks aren't 100% pitbulls. Rather they are mixed breeds. Mixed with what? Well anything some idiot sees fit. But even though its mixed the headline doesn't say "part pit,part .." or "mutt" it says Pitbull. Sounds like they are being targeted to me.

And as for sensitivity towards the child killed. My condolences. But normally, as much as I hate to say it. I disregard the so called mauling. When I was growning up we owned a rott. During that time some young kid in Ohio got brutally (very brutally) ripped to pieces by a Rott. The child lived but will look seriously deformed the rest of his life. Well you can guess what it led to, "ban rottweilers". Well as it turns out one of the kids friends admitted they would jab at the Rottweiler through its' fence with a sharpened stick and throw rocks at the thing, on much more than one occasion. The child got what was coming to him. On the flipside so did the pitt JS talked about.

And Gus. Are you serious? Really? You have been a member here for a while. Do you not see the numerous "snake attack" threads where everyone blames the owner no matter what. What makes you think on a forum dedicated to keeping reptiles as pets that the reaction would be any different with any other type of pet? Although the direction this thread went might not be where you intended, it shouldn't come as a shock.

I am not a "save the pitbull" person. If a pitbull kills a human, a bullet or 2 should be waiting. Imo that applies to any animal or for that matter any person that kills another human. But the owner should have severe punishment as well.

There are responsible pitbull owners that have owned pitbulls longer than I have been alive without one single problem. They should not be punished because drug dealing turds or other irresponsible pet owners cannot raise a pet properly.
