Instead of trying to win the hearts of people that oppose them, perhaps it would be better to focus on getting people that have them to keep them contained. Whether I as a citizen agree that you should have the right to have the animal or not does not in anyway outweigh my right to safely walk to my car without being mauled by a neighbors free roaming or recently escaped pitbull. I really don't much care what you keep as long as it doesn't come in my yard. I keep deadly animals too (various pitvipers) but I don't allow them to run amuck. Showing off how lovable they are by taking photos of infants sleeping with them only serves to make people cringe and keep watching the news waiting for this baby to show up on the headlines mauled to death the same way people react even in this reptile community about people who photograph their babies snuggled up in the coils of large pythons.
