.o(my first reply didn't even mention "pit bull", except including someone else's quote)
I think the situation is tragic. I can't even imagine my child being killed - by anything, much less a dog. If any of my dogs (4, including the one that followed me home yesterday) showed the slightest inclination towards hurting any human who wan't showing aggression to any of us (meaning the dog wasn't defending us) it would get a shotgun to the temple and a grave in the yard.
It just "ticks" me off that someone would be perfectly happy to take my family pet away because one somewhere else killed somebody. In Denver they went door to door and took people's dogs from them, and euthanized them, just because they were "pit bulls" (which isn't technically a breed btw). It scares me to death that it could happen here, because my dogs are like children to me. Yeah, I know, I'm a whacko, I'll never claim otherwise. But I love my dogs, and I'll fight tooth and nail for them, just like I would for any of my other animals, my children, my husband, and the rest of the family and friends.
That said, I'm done with this post. It upsets me too much. I'll continue to fight for the breed by taking my dog out in public ON A LEASH to show people how sweet a well raised American Pit Bull Terrier is.
