Hi all, I am a newbie and I need a little help.
I have a boaphile 422d cage with flexiwatt under-tank heat, and a nice thermostat with probe.
Turns out I am going to need an additional heat source to get my ambient temps up into the right range. So, my question is how should I control the temps?
Will I need more than one thermostat? where should I place the probes?
also, what is cheap and effective (I'm broke after buying the enclosure

) for adding ambient heat?
I have heard heating pads work....do I put it on top of the enclosure?
luckily I did get the incandescent socket installed in the enclosure as an option....I assume I could run a ceramic heat emitter from this socket....? do I need to put a guard around it if I do?
sorry for the blitz of questions....any advice or anecdotes from your experiences would help.
FYI my room temp is 67-68, I have the 2x flexiwatt option, a herpstat controller. I cannot get the inside floor of the boaphile up beyond 83F, and the cool side temp doesn't budge.
I am moving the enclosure to a warmer part of the room (70-71) and I am working on adding foam insulation to the outside of the enclosure....ugly but will probably help with temps.
I don't have a snake yet....figure I would need time to sort through and test everything....so no lives are hanging in the balance waiting for this to be answered!

thank you
