I keep most of my snakes in zip lock bags and coffee cans..lol j/k. I use everything from tanks to custom built wooden cages to a 2 story boa condo I built out of plastic pegboard and shower surround material. When I can, I am going to replace most if not all of the tanks with plastic cages....likely boaphile and some barrs cages. I do have one barrs cage now...I like the lightweight easy to heat idea of plastic....easy to clean too.
Should you be using a heat lamp? I dunno..if the heat pad is heating that end of the cage enough then I wouldn't ...Some cages I use lights...some I don't....just depends on the snake and the cage setup.. I keep my snake room at or near 80 degrees so I don't have to do much to heat most cages.
