you have two lamps and a heat pad?

are you sure your thermometer is reporting the temps accurately?

can you cross check them with another thermometer.

one thing about those strip thermometers is your going to get influence on the reading from the actual surface of the glass, not only the air.
if its up against an outside wall or near a window, its going to skew the reading.
it may be hotter than its telling you.
