I know an idiot that got out of a DUI because of a snake. They went herping and then to a bar and had a Canebrake in a cooler. When they got pulled over for weaving, the cop asked what was in the cooler. When they said "Rattlesnake", he didn't believe them and pulled them out of the car, put the cooler in front of his cruiser and proceeded to open it. The officer was surprised and said a few explicit things very loudly. The snake started to crawl out of the open cooler so this guy just went to the car, got a snake hook and put the Canebrake back in the cooler. I think the last thing the cop said before he sped away was "If you can do THAT, you can drive home!" Idiot could have died in several ways that night or killed someone else and the cop let him go because of fear of snakes. What a world.
