My tegu will sit there snorting and 'puffing' at me if I'm working even around her cage. She'll do it more vehemently if I pick her up. I think its just their way of telling you "Hey, I'm here, I'm mean, watch it." Or who knows, maybe its a way of smelling - drawing more air into their nose to tell if something is food or a threat.

Humidity levels for tegus should be pretty high or they will have bad sheds. I have a big water bin that mine can get into, as well - I mist her down every couple days. I don't actually keep track of the humidity in her cage, but her last shed was in big pieces, so it must be pretty good.

The latest Reptiles magazine has a nice writeup on tegus, might be worth getting ahold of the issue. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]
