You can buy some really realistic looking silk plants at walmart for 3 bucks a piece. They all have a blunt stalk at the bottom that can easily be hot glued into a drilled hole in the log. I used a staple gun to staple vines overhead but I would only do this in places you are sure heavy snakes won't crawl up and over possibly tearing them down because when they pull them down they will likely pull out one side of the staple leaving a nasty little sharp end sticking out for them to crawl back over and cut themselves on.
