Im not BIG on WCs, but I realize the CBs we have now, were at some point from WC lineage. When I start keeping natives, Im sure they will be WC, since essentially you can't buy sell or trade natives in my state.
Regardless of color, the animal is going to be at a high risk for predators, that is part of its natural place in the world, unfortunately for it.
This is a decision you will have to make on your own, I'm afraid. If you feel you are compelled to try to keep it, I say go for it. It would give your kids a chance to observe a native species on a regular and contained environment, as well as in nature.
