Well unlikely he won't go out to a window. Leopard geckos are not really really intelligent, but you never know, some are smarter than others. In what places did you check for him? Unless you had the window open without a screen it's highly unlikely. I would check all the windows and make sure there are no rips or tears in the screen. He's bound to turn up somewhere. If he did get out, then your leo's mortality is in jeopardy. You can try and search around your house in dark crevaces and such, he might be there. Mostly likely he died because of he couldn't properly thermoregulate or a bird picked him up. I sorry to say such glum news, but leo's are such small animals and are a treat to any bird or cat.
