When one of my leo's went missing one day I thought they escaped the same way you thought they escaped. Just so happens when I looked under the water bowl I found her. Leopard geckos love to hide underwater bowls and other objects that are in the cage. If you looked everywhere in the cage and you still can't find the doll, then the most likely place that she/he will go is somewhere warm dark and small. So if it happens to be the heating vents or your bed spring matress or the dark corners of your closet, that's most likely where he/she is. Sorry that you lost your precious little gecko dear.
