Actually they do have the ability to drop their tail off when needed. Most lose their tail due to "attack" or an accident though and not from just dropping it. the tail does regrow also. Like someone said it does not look anything like the original tail either..as in most lizard tail regrowth cases tend to be anyway.
YUP.. Some pressure and neosporin is about all you can do for it at this point. Just watch it for infection and make sure that it is actually a clean break off also. if there is any sign of infection.. VET ASAP ! Infection can lead to gangrene in the tail which will work it's way upward etc and cause major health issues for the iggy.
NOTE : The tail regrowth can take a loooong time also. On occasion the tail will not regrow either, but most do.
