Anyone in the NYC area know of a good reptile vet? I have one at West Side Vet and I'm not too fond of them there. I would like to look into finding a better place.
Here is an example of why I'm not too fond of them: Keep in mind this was a basic checkup - When talking to her about the habitat and feeding I was told to up the temp between 90-95. That made me question if she knew what was going on. Then she was looking at the saddles on the tail and almost seemed suprised that it was red! I had already told her she is a "redtail" boa and she said that the tail sould darken in time to the point of being brown like the rest of her body. And as for feeding, I was basically told to power feed her. She said to feed her every couple days with a few mouse fuzzies (that was all I had at the time). I knew that she was being underfed which I realized and have since rectified the situation, but to feed her every couple days just didn't seem right. By the end of the session I learned that her mouth was a little on the white side, that was the only thing that the vet seemed confident about. So I walked out with a few syringes of Baytrill and one injection already in her. I did not have a chance to look this up but I did see a post that knocked it.
So if anyone could please help me in finding someone they trust with their herps that would be great.
Thanks
JD
