seany i too i have been keeping my bcis in glass cages. and i too have been looking at cages for several months now. i asked the same questions you are what is best for my herps?. and i talked to morti and jeff on the boaphille cages and got some reall y good advice. i have decided to go with one of the boaphille cages due to they are easier to maintain humidity they are stackable and jeff will put in heating for a nominal charge. and i kind of like that as far as light my girls are kind of light shy they prefer the ambient light in the room if it gets much lighter the just move to a darker spot. and the front opening is a plus for me not them my oldest girl hates being lifted up and out i think it kind of spooks her i have always used under tank heaters. so i have no experience with other heating sources. good luck on whatever you decide to get.
