MOst people I know that keep them use Cypress as substrate. The top soil can get pretty messy. They are cute as babies. Too bad you bought one At my last CHS meeting last week they had a baby Nile Monitor up for adoption. I hope you wont mind too much when he desides to introduce you to his tail.
