nowhere near a Blue Jay.....
Reminds me of the time my mom and I 'rescued' a baby bird from a pet store. They had the poor thing in with the Zebra finches. He was terrified even tho he was twice their size. We get it home and set up a cage for the lil one. He seemed very uncomfortable in it, too. We were trying to figure out exactly what kind of bird it was. I had him on my finger and was saying "awwwwww, ain't you cute...." but only got as far as "Awww....". He jumped into the cavern that was my mouth!! My mom snapped her fingers and exclaimed, "He's a Cliff swallow!" and proceeded to laugh hysterically as I sat there with a baby bird trying to climb further in, with a death grip on my lower lip. Well, we raised him up until he was big enough to go free......
Either a Sparrow or Swallow. Either way, I'd get some meal worms for him.....good luck with him Lori. Hope he gets better for you!
