If you won't say it BW, I will. Shipping hots via a common carrier is irresponsible and makes us all look bad. It was the responsibility of the buyer/receiver to tell the seller/shipper how to send the animal and pay the appropriate amount. If the seller went behind his back and unknowingly shipped it via UPS or something after he requested Delta, thats one thing... but if he knowingly went along with it - he is just as much to blame and it was wrong. Since shipping snakes via UPS, Fedex, Airborne Express or USPS is -illegal-, its not just morally wrong, its a crime; and as you said... possibly a federal one.
There shouldn't be any worry about people 'freaking out' when you are shipping rattlers via Delta - because they permit it, as long as they are packaged and labelled properly. So oiling/taping/wrapping rattles is completely pointless.
