I still wouldn't put mine on sand even if they are about 5-6 inches. Sand is really bad unless you get the calci sand. That's not so bad, but if your going to put them on sand, make sure you feed them outside the cage or with tweezers so they don't get a mouthful of sand when their prey is on the ground.
