i had diy c02 for about 10 days but it stopped bubbling and i ran out of yeast. i should set it up again. i dont have the uv sterilzer though.
also discus here are 40$ for a juvenile.
for about 2 days after a water change i notice that al the fish are more active but strangely less aggresive. The shrimp also comes out a lot more. I bought new better food and did a water change yesterday and now i came home today to discover a massive bubble nest at the top right corner with my biggest (and first) fish. its a wild type dwarf gourami. he is very entertaining to watch him gather pieces floating and bring them up and attach them. he is also blowing odd bubbles into it that do not pop. I know this means he is ready to breed but i dont have any females in the tank right now because the local fish stores do not carry em. i must check the big chains like petsmart/petco because i havent seen em yet.
Also, it isnt fully planted yet. i plan to have hygrophila corymbosa, riccia flutians, (for the bubble nest so that they dont tear up my hairgrass) Anubias agustifolia or afzelli, java moss, and brazillian pennywort. The plant growing the best in there now is the vallisernia.
i might add another school of tetras (emperors or black widow) and maybe another interesting solo animal
