I'd be a little weary to try roach spray. I wouldn't want to use anything that I can't consider too safe for myself or the cats. It seems to be powerful enough that, if used, will kill insects outside of the cage as well as those inside. Plus shad said that it has caused some snakes to convulse. I wouldn't want to take that risk.
Now, to be honest, I'm not the one who cleans the reptile cages (I'm the cleaner of the cats), but I do participate in the purchasing of the materials and have spent plenty of time looking at the options.
