Well I just recently found out that my pair of emeralds was a 2.0 instead of the 1.1 that I was told they were. I was very disappointed until the friend that sexed them for me said that he had 2 big females that were ovulating and that he had no males to pair them up with. So after some talking we dicided to bring the girls over. The cage that my males are in is way big enough for multiple emeralds so we now have a small colony going in there.
I had not planned on breeding mine until at least next season so had not even thought about checking on their sex. I had just taken the word of the person I got them from. What was I thinking?!
But all is well that ends well I guess. Both of mine are nice big males and I am hopeful that there will be babies this coming spring.
The picture of the single emerald is one of the females. She is enormous, with the attitude to back it up I assure you.
And before anyone asks, that is a big humidifier in the cage with them and it is working quite well at keeping the humidity up in the 80% range. And if they poop on it I don't care because it comes appart easily and is made to be wet anyhow, it is a humidifier!
