Odd, looks like I have a field tech to question. LOL. We constantly send techs out to these offshore drilling platforms to repair communications systems. It can get a bit hectic during the hurricane season. Recently after Katrina, we got emails here in the network operations center with these photos attached, the tech claiming to have taken them when out on a job.
One thing is for certain, they are taken from an offshore platform, as platforms are the only rigs close enough to the shore where the snakes could swim out to. Platforms primarily serve as docking stations for large drilling ships. Most of the platforms in the gulf stretch from about Cameron, LA to Fourshon, LA. There are a about a handfull or so others scattered further down the coast to Bama, but none near FL.
