Diane.. A 4' boa will probably take a medium rat fine. The rat should not be any bigger than the snakes girth. Feed it every 10 to 14 days. Once a month is not enough and it will poo when it needs to. Sometimes my snakes go a few days after feeding and sometimes they will not go until the second feed.
