I have a 'Topical' bible and looked up 'serpent'. There are many times in the Bible where God used the serpent to make a point. Moses had a staft that he through down and it became a snake. He picked it back up by the tail as instructed by God and it turned back into a staft. This was to prove God was guiding Moses. In another instance the snake was used to heal those that looked upon it. (Moses again...He must not have been afraid of snakes! God could have used another animal and the thinking probably would be the same about that animal! One more thought, if God did not love them He would have destroyed them all by now.....Born again also.
