Hiya Dizzy! Welcome to RTB!!!
YES, some people do draw up contracts saying that if the buyer can no longer house the animal, the breeder gets first crack at buying it back. I don't know about the ability to take it back if you found it was mistreated/neglected...although many here would back you up if you felt the need to do so, providing you had proof. I have a story relating to this, but I'm not a breeder. I was supposed to just babysit the snakes, but when they got here, I noticed that the big girl was very ill and the 4 lil ones were about to follow her slither trail....so I got them all better and refused to give them back. Needless to say he wasn't happy, but he didn't learn his lesson. He went right out and bought 2 baby Royal pythons. I guess he'll learn when they get sick and die...or maybe not. Sad All I can say it to be careful of who you sell to and make sure they know what they need to know, ya know? Some people keep them just to say they do and can look 'cool'. Try to stay away from those types if you can.
Good luck in your future breeding endeavors.
