Not too exotic, but really cute baby Opossum

I noticed my lab walking by where we keep the dog food and sniffing in the air as if she was smelling something unusual so I waited for her to walk away and walked over and took a look. Too my suprise there was a baby opossum hiding at the bottom of an empty dog food bag. Probably lured in there by the smell of the two empty dog food cans that my son had drop in the bag. He/she tried to play dead for me, but when I reached in and picked it up by the scruff of the neck it's eye moved and then it gave a low growl. Pretty funny coming from such a little one. I have raised several Opossums from little babies so I wasn't scared of this little guy. I just placed him back in the bag before my ridgeback noticed that I had anything because it would have been all over before I could blink an eye. Opossums and squirrels make him crazy. So anyways, I waited until they had gone in for a nap and my wife and I took him up by our garden where there is a big brush pile and the fence is right there and let him go. He made a mad dash into the brush pile and has not been seen since. I figure that he got too in thralled in eating the last of the dry food in the bag and licking the cans clean that he forgot to leave before dawn. OOPS!

David
