-My dad once told me since his dad was a chicago cop they pretty much did anything and everything. So once he said his dad brought home 2 alligators (or was it crocodiles, i forgot) and so he housed them in the bathtub. And he said they were always feeding on hamburger meat/steaks/ and so on. He said one day they just had to remove them so he said his dad dumped them in an alley sewer somewhere lol...

My dad brought home an alligator when I was quite young I don't really rember this but anyway my mom freaked. He eventually convinced her that it was staying and Like your it was kept in the bathtub. He ended up losing the fight to keep it because of me I would'nt keep my hands away from it. I was so happy when he brought it home I never left its side. This scared my mom. lol as would any sane parent.
