lori, when you find one, make sure it's a black & white if thats what you want. many people ( most petstores included) confuse black tegus, for black & white tegus. there is a signifigant diffrence in phisical apperance, eating habits, original world location, price, and from what I've been told, temperment ( black & white being more docile). the easiest way to tell the difference is to look right inbetween their eye, and nostril from the side. on a black tegu, there will be one large scale, a black and white will have two. both lizards will have black and white scales however. after seeing a few togeather the difference will be unmistakable, they do look quite a bit different as far as their facial structure, and markings go. mine is a black tegu, her name is Shamika ( she gots a ghetto booty!) I love her, she's a great pet, highly recomended! good luck! -Juggalo
