quarantine time is too often passed around as just a holding period in case anything obvious pops up. It may be possible to quarantine for a couple of weeks with some species if you do fecals, saliva cultures, look long and hard for signs of mites and ticks...know a lot about the person that had the animal before and how it was kept and any medical history...or it may take months or even years if you have an animal prone to IBD or BD ...IMO all burms should be quaratined for life. I won't even bury dead ones in the same hole. If the animal is a fresh import, at least a year should be given and all sorts of swabs, and floats and cultures should be thoroughly examined....and even after all that, the risk of something bad happening is still uncomfortably high.
