You can keep a cornsnake in a kiln and never have a bad shed. Of course the 1200f temps will likely fry his gizzard but the point is...if your cornsnake is having bad sheds, you have a problem with either mites or malnutrition or something otherwise health related. Most US native colubrids do not require humidity tampering at all. Many will even get sick if too much is provided. Cornsnakes are fairly idiotproof at least to the point where anything NOT blatently stupid (like keeping them in a kiln) they can survive.
